The American landscape is covered with once great cities of every size. Even as the appeal of an urban lifestyle grows and the demand for diverse, stimulating and walkable urban environments increases year by year, there is no clear path forward to revitalize these tremendous cultural and economic assets. The American approach and policies for urban communities seem tailored for two extremes, cities for the rich or cities for the poor, mimicking our national shortcomings rather than building on our strengths and better nature.
